We visited Saskatoon (360 Pharr Rd., 404-891-1911) Saturday night. This is in the space last occupied by the outrageously unpleasant Harry Bissett's. I'm happy to say Saskatoon is about a 500-percent improvement.
This is actually a franchise -- apparently the first -- of a popular Greenville, SC, restaurant specializing in steaks, fish and wild game. The decor is a bit taxidermied for my taste, but I didn't eat anything I didn't like. My entree was this mixed grill featuring duck, lamb and quail.
The "wild game" menu changes according to access. For example, the manager told us he's expecting to have yak on the menu next week, along with the usual buffalo and venison.
We split this dessert of creme brulee layered with filo, honey and candied pecans. Think free-form Italian baklava.
We also had excellent service and a view of the most picturesque hostess I've seen in a long time. (That's a compliment.)
I'll have more to say in this week's "Grazing."
