Lucero headed east, way east

Posted by Cliff Bostock on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 2:28 PM

I miss Lucero Martinez Obregon, the chef-owner of Zocalo on 10th Street.

As I reported a few months back, she's left Atlanta for New York City, where she's working for the renowned Richard Sandoval, whose "Modern Mexican" cuisine, purveyed at more than a dozen restaurants, has made him the best known Mexican chef  in the country

Obviously, Lucero is doing well. Sandoval has selected her to help open new ventures is Qatar and Dubai.

Come home, Lucero!

Does anyone else remember the Feta and pine nut ice cream she did at her short-lived ice cream place, Orange & Scarlett's? She's a legend in my own mind.

Andi... I do! That ice cream was awesome. My family adopted Orange & Scarlett's as our weekend breakfast hang after the demise of the late, great Mondo. And then, O&S was gone, too. Happily, our current favorite shows no signs of croaking.
