Omnivore - Checking out the latest hotel restaurant in Midtown

We hit the newest hotel restaurant, Eleven, Saturday night. It’s located in the Loews Atlanta Hotel in Midtown at the coner of Peachtree and 11th streets. (The latter, which the restaurant faces, explains its name.)

The fare is part of the Southern farm-to-table, sustainable, organic, local movement. If I sound a little cynical, it’s because I am. But props to our server Eddie, who was able, at my insistence, to go through the menu and identify the few dishes that really did have sourced ingredients.

The standout dish was the special above — scallops over diced, braised short ribs mixed with grilled vegetables. Sort of a kinky surf-n-turf. I also like this one (right) with slices of molasses-glazed Fudge Farm pork tenderloin over sweet potatoes and a bed of collards with a tarragon infusion. The slightly bitter greens rescued the dish from the usual candied taste.

Look for more in my Grazing column.
