Grindhouse #2 in the works

Posted by Cliff Bostock on Mon, May 24, 2010 at 2:08 AM

grindhouse new

Here's the preliminary sketch for the second location of Grindhouse Killer Burgers on Piedmont Road in Midtown. Owner Alex Brounstein, whose first location at Sweet Auburn Curb Market has been a big hit, hopes to open this one in September.

The new location is  the former Detail Car Wash at Piedmont's intersection with Wimbledon Road. That's not far from Saigon Basil and Sheik Burritos n Kabobs.

Designer Kim Fong's rendering of the planned restaurant appears to give "grind house" a new, earthier meaning.

i'm very excited grindhouse is coming to this space. The neighborhood could use a great patio restaurant. But with the the number of massage parlors and strip clubs in the neighborhood a less racy sign would be nice. Families with kids will be your main customers around here.

welcome: A less racy sign is a great idea! When I first looked at the sign in the drawing I was just about to say, "Hooooray! Yet another place I can go get a nice rub n' tug!" thankfully, the wonderful people here at creative loafing have clarified that this is just some burger joint. Therefore, I will just have to take my rub n' tug business elsewhere.

Congrats to all at Grind House...nice to see hard work pay off. As to the design...I say bring it. Nothing wrong with seeing a sexy girl eating a burger.

Sexy lady for strip club Cheshire Bridge, not respectful for the nice neighborhood you are in. I presume you didn't show them that sign when you garnered their good will at their civic meeting? Hope your burgers are decent even if your sign isn't.

Great burger restaurant but TERRIBLE cheesy sign! This is a wonderful neighborhood with lots of families and the signage is completely inappropriate and unncecessary. You'll get plenty of business without the tacky signage!

This is the 21st Century, if you want women at your restaurant, I suggest you rethink the scantily-clad babe on your sign. It certainly reeks, Strip Club to me. Is the food good enough or does your concept require objectifying women in order to be successful?
