Food links 7/15: Free ice cream, pies rule, and Shaq takes it to the kitchen

The Cooking Channel ice cream truck will give out free (!) ice cream from Jake's Ice Cream at East Lake Farmers Market on Saturday from 9am-1pm, featuring Roger Mooking of the new network's Everyday Exotic.

Pies are the new cupcakes: with the opening of the new Old 4th Ward Pie Company and Atlanta Food & Beer's review of Roswell's Pie Hole, we enter a crustier era.

On season 2 of Shaquille O'Neal's reality show Shaq Vs., he's set to take on non-athletes like competitive eater Joey Chestnut and personality/cook Rachael Ray to prove his worth off the basketball court.
