Industry gossip: chefs with new ventures & new jobs

Posted by Besha Rodell on Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 1:35 PM

Chef Todd Richards, of Rolling Bones, will be opening a restaurant in the old Depot location on Boulevard in October. The restaurant will be called H Harper Station, and will be Southern, but with influences from the Caribbean, New Orleans, and Appalachia. Richards will be joined by partners Duane Nutter (who will also keep his position as chef at One Flew South), Jerry Slater, and Reggie Washington. I'm guessing that this is the top secret east side project that I mentioned a few weeks back when reporting on the opening of Googie Burger. It will be great to have a serious restaurant take over the beautiful old train station space.

Hopeton Hibbert, who Cliff reported on a couple of weeks back, has taken a job as chef at Cafe Circa.

Foodie Buddha reported last week that Eli Kirshtein was rumored to be taking over the former Repast spot. I spoke to Kirshtein, who denied a deal was close, and said that many chefs around town are considering the space. However, Kirshtein is hoping to return to Atlanta with an exciting venture soon - I'll keep you posted as details emerge.
