The menu contains both Chinese and Tibetan dishes, but, as our server told us, many of the Tibetan dishes are Tibetan in their seasoning but not their main ingredients. Thus, there are seafood dishes but, so far, no yak, although it's on the menu. Most surprisingly, there's no butter tea on the menu.
I've only eaten in one Tibetan restaurant before, Le Lhassa, and it was in Paris. The food there was blander than Shangrila's, some of which was quite piquant, like our starter special of spicy beef (above). Another beef dish was heavily spiced with cumin.
All of the food we ordered, purely Tibetan or not, was quite tasty. I'll have more to say in "Grazing" later this week.
