Kurt’s & Vreny’s Oktoberfest, Fri., Oct. 1: Autumn Boutique Bier Dinner featuring 2010 fall brew collection and a four-course meal. All beers featured will be available for purchasing at Kurt’s Marketplace. $34.95. 6 p.m. 4225 River Green Pkwy. 770-623-4128.

Atlanta BBQ Festival, Sat., Oct. 2: Second annual event includes more than 50 BBQ teams competing for trophies and bragging rights. Plus barbecue offerings and other festival food, a kids’ area and live music. $6 advance, $10 at door, value pack $25 by phone or Internet only. Atlantic Station, 20th St. and Fowler St.

Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, Sat., Oct. 2: Atlanta’s Best Cellars dinner features gourmet food and wine, plus a live and silent auction to benefit the T.J. Marietta Wine Market, Sat., Oct. 2: “White Hot Reds” themed wine tasting that features 2007 Californian Cabernets, Merlots, and Chardonnays that are full-bodied, supple and loaded with flavor. No cost, but donations towards charity are accepted. 2 p.m.-4 p.m. 770-919-1574.

Chinese Southern Belle Festival, Sat., Oct. 2: Shop, eat and learn all about the Chinese fare and culture at Buford Highway Farmers Market. 10-minute express cooking demos and samplings included. Free. 1-4 p.m. 5600 Buford Hwy. 404-494-0088.

Battle of the Burgers, Sat., Oct. 2: Seventeen Atlanta restaurants will battle for bragging rights at Atlanta’s first burger festival and competition. The event takes place from noon—4 p.m. at John Howell Park in Virginia-Highland. Participating restaurants include Cafe Di Sol, Farm Burger, Grindhouse Killer Burgers, Highland Tap, The Nook, Tap, Ted’s Montana Grill, West Egg Cafe and the Warren. Entry is $20 and includes 20 Taste Tickets which are redeemed for burger bites (1 ticket each) at the event. You can buy additional tickets for $1 each. Field of Greens, Sun., Oct. 3: Festival at Whippoorwill Hollow Organic Farm that brings together locally grown food, live music and green living education in a family-friendly, fun environment. The festival is sponsored by Slow Food Atlanta, featuring small-plate tastings and a children’s activities area. Local Atlanta chefs including Matt Swickerath of Valenza Restaurant, Stephen Herman of HAVEN Restaurant, and Carvel Grant Gould of Canoe will also be in attendance. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. $15 advance, $20 gate. 3905 Highway 138. 404-633-4534.

Petite Auberge Oktoberfest, Fri., Oct. 1-Sat., Oct. 30: Petite Auberge offers lunch specials and an additional dinner menu with traditional German and Bavarian appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts. Some dinner selections, priced at $14.95 to $19.95, include: Bavarian Pork Roast, German Sauerbraten, Schweinshaxe, Beef Rouladen, Wiener Schnitzel, Bratwurst and Knackwurst and more.
