I stopped by yesterday and found the menu board gone. Owner Jahan Ostad told me people had difficulty following the board's build-your-own-entree instructions. I told him that every friend I'd personally referred to his restaurant had told me they did indeed find the board difficult. So, he's designed a simplified menu that will be installed soon.
Ostad also reported that he was the "first loser" at the recent Atlanta Chili-Cookoff. "Yeah," he said, "we came in 11th — not bad out of 250." I sampled the chili while there and found it delicious. And I'm no big fan of chili.
He also told me this story: After Creative Loafing's "Best of Atlanta" edition was published, he put signs in front of the shop advertising his burritos, and several other items, as the best anywhere.
He actually received a call from Willy's, which won the burritos category, complaining about his sign. "We had a good discussion," he said.
This trip, I ordered the Soutwestern-style burrito with Berkshire Pork and sauteed peaches. Yum.
