Cheap etouffee
A reader I’ve never met approached me in the gym Monday and said, “Somebody told me you’re the Popeyes guy.”
Yeah. that’s me. But I’m in good company. Paul Prudhomme and Scott Peacock both call the chain their favorite fast food.
I quit eating there for nearly a year, but I’ve returned a few times lately and, as I wrote, the service is so improved, it’s not fun to write about any more.
Of course, the reader’s inquiry immediately stoked a craving and I stopped by last night for chicken. I didn’t even notice that the restaurant now serves... crawfish etouffee. That boggles the mind. The couple behind me ordered it and they declined to give me a taste of theirs.
People just aren’t as hospitable as they used to be.
By the way, the etouffee is way nutritious.
