Gravy Train: Blais on CNN, New Dowtown Lounge, Atlanta represents on Chopped

A new spot called Museum Bar is coming to Downtown. The project, opening in late January on Ralph David Abernathy, will be a mash-up of concepts including a full service restaurant, bakery, and nightclub as well as three separate lounges. Sounds like a bit of a cluster, and there isn’t much in the area to attract traffic (with the exception of Turner Field, but this doesn’t really sound like a post-game watering hole).

Richard Blais' latest venture appears to be a gig as a corespondent on CNN. The segment, which will be called Eatocracy with Richard Blais, has not been officially announced by the network, but Blais' wife mentioned it on her facebook page a few days ago, and CNN producer Kelly Frank tweeted about it yesterday.

The Great Food Group, which owns a few restaurants around town, is opening The Vinings Fish Company, an upscale seafood restaurant, in January. Though not confirmed, it is thought to be taking over the location of the current Great Food concept The Burger Club in Vinings Jubilee.

South City Kitchen Midtown Sous Chef Jeffrey Gardner has been tapped to appear on Food Network’s competition show Chopped. The episode is set to air in early February. You can check out Jeffrey's Chopped audition on YouTube.

Goodfellas reportedly closed their Downtown location rather abruptly this week, tossing their equipment to the curb. Goodfellas locations are independently run, so this doesn't mean we'll see the other intown outposts shutting the doors.

Online buzz says that Athens-based The Taco Stand is working on a new Alpharetta location at Mansell and Old Alabama Connector. The spot will include a restaurant and a bar. The Taco Stand recently closed their only Atlanta area location in Buckhead - the space is now The Big Ketch.

Also coming soon to Alpharetta is TRE Vietnamese Dining. TRE will serve authentic Vietnamese food including Pho.
