Great news. I wrote last week that two of my favorite chefs were going to begin offering a regular Sunday dinner. They wouldn't let me disclose their names at the time.
Now I can: They are David Sweeney of the much-missed Dynamic Dish and Guy Wong, the chef-owner of Miso Izakaya, where the dinners will take place.
The first will be held 4-10 p.m. May 1. That's May Day. Perhaps diners will wear garlands of edible flowers and the chefs will host a maypole dance. (Of course, that's also International Workers Day — "Labor Day" in the rest of the world.)
Wong informs me that the menu will be a la carte, not the usual prix-fixe around town. "We want it to be very casual," he said.
EDIT: The time of the event is 4-10 p.m., not 4-11 p.m., as I earlier reported. Guy Wong tells me that he and Sweeney have not yet decided whether to do this regularly. It depends on response.
