
In other permitting news, we’re seeing the name HD10 associated with the old San Francisco Coffee location in Poncey-Highland that’s said to be home to Richard Blais’ new hot dog concept (HD... hot dog... not a far stretch if you ask us). We'd love to tell you more, but at this time, Blais’ representation was not able to comment on the progress of the new restaurant.
The crew behind Top FLR and Sound Table will be opening a new concept in Midtown, though details are still under wraps. The space is expected to open sometime this summer in the former Cuerno/Lupe Taqueria space on Juniper. Shane Devereux will act as the executive chef.

A new restaurant called The Hot Dog Factory is opening in Smyrna near the Cobb Galleria Center. Guess what they serve? The independent hot dog spot serves Kosher hot dogs along with turkey hot dogs, Vienna sausages and soy dogs for veggie lovers. They come topped with a variety of fixins’ from traditional chili and cheese to Asian and Mexican influenced flavors. 1529 Spring Road in Smyrna.
Silk, located in the Metropolis building in Midtown, will close as of May 1.
We got word that TWO Urban Licks is now offering a “secret” (looks like the cat’s out of the bag) late night “Gastronomes” menu every Friday and Saturday, in addition to their regular menu. It starts at 10 p.m. and is offered until it’s gone. Expect things like Tequila Lime Pheasant, Blue Corn Crusted, with Texas Caviar, or Confit Rabbit with a White Chocolate Mole.
A new type of Publix, known as a hybrid store, will be opening next week in Town Brookhaven. The location is designed to be a bit more upscale than a typical Publix store, with more natural and organic products. The Deli department will feature a larger variety of specialty meats, artisan cheeses and prepared items than shoppers are used to seeing, including entrees like Cedar Plank Salmon, plus a large salad bar. There are other upgrades all around the store, so basically Publix fanatics (and probably even some converts from Kroger) will be drooling over their shiny, new Brookhaven shopping option.
Roswell’s The Salt Factory Pub will be featured next Monday on Food Network’s gluttonous show Meat & Potatoes. The episode, called “Comfort Meats,” will feature the local restaurant’s Shepherd’s Pie, giving viewers an inside look at how it’s crafted. The Salt Factory Pub will air the show at the restaurant on Monday, for any fans that want to come dine while they watch the feature.
The Cooks Warehouse will open their fourth Atlanta-area store, setting up shop in East Cobb’s Merchant’s Walk center. The 4,800 square foot store will be conveniently located next to Whole Foods, so you can satisfy all of your high end culinary needs in one convenient spot. Look for a late summer opening.
Spice Market is offering a Chef for a Day program, which allows people to spend five hours in the kitchen with Spice Market chefs working different stations and actually helping to prepare for dinner service. During their stint in the kitchen, they participant will learn the techniques used to prepare some of the restaurant’s signature dishes before sitting down to enjoy a meal they helped prepare. The cost is $150 plus an additional $48/person for invited dinner guests (four person maximum).
