I wrote earlier this month that Guy Wong, owner-chef of Miso Izakaya, and David Sweeney, owner- chef of the defunct Dynamic Dish, plan to host a Sunday dinner 4-11 p.m. May 1. Depending on response, the a la carte dinner may become a regular event.
Above is this Sunday's menu of very affordable small plates.
The dinner will be held at Miso Izakaya, 819 Edgewood Ave. Call 678-701-0128 for more information. Reservations are not being accepted.
I mentioned the restaurant-bar's suffocating volume of smoke in a "Grazing" column in February. The problem is architectural. The bar and dining room are open to one another, so it was impossible to avoid the smoke while dining.
The restaurant dispatched an email Sunday with this picture and announcement below:
Yes folks, it's true. Starting May 1st, Highland Tap will no longer allow smoking in our bar or dining areas. Smoke from the bar drifts into our kitchen and dining areas, compromising food quality and overall guest satisfaction.
For all you smokers out there, we still love ya and hope you won't break up with us. We still hold a couple of other vices sacred: red meat & big martinis!
Major kudos to Highland Tap. (Thanks to the several readers who sent me the announcement.)

Of course, Sunday is Easter.
Just in time for my first look at Boners BBQ, there's this dubiously sexy You Tube vid about food and libidinal life.
Tom Maicon of Food & Beer Atlanta writes to let me know he has found the hottest hamburger outside hell. His article about it says this:
Trust me when I tell you that the warning next to the Hell Burger on the menu at Canvas Cafe and Bakery (724 Cherokee Street, Marietta, Tel: 678.213.2268) isn’t just there for show, nor is the “no return” policy. These written cautions and disclaimers are as serious as the burger’s prickly punch.
It starts as a harmless 8oz. cayenne pepper-dusted certified Black Angus patty. But it quickly goes downhill from there as a handful of fiery chilies and four chunks of roasted jalapeno — carefully cut so to contain as many seeds as possible — are added. Then, it is dressed with a messy heaping pile of habanero and onion slaw.
Incredibly, there's even more fire in the burger. Check out the link above to learn the rest of the ingredients.

The new location of Grindhouse Killer Burgers is now open on Piedmont near Cheshire Bridge Road. The Piedmont location will serve both lunch and dinner daily.
Dulce Vegan had their soft opening this week in Kirkwood. The menu is loaded with things that sound appealing to anyone who loves sweets, even those of the non-Vegan persuasion. The bakery uses all natural ingredients and sources locally, with cake flavors like Lemon Raspberry and Mexican Chocolate.
Cakes & Ale projects that their new, expanding location - which includes a bakery and dessert bar - will be opening in June.

The AJC's John Kessler wants to remind us that Hugh Acheson is a contestant (again) on "Top Chef Masters" - but is anyone watching it?
Someone at VH1 thought it would be fun to watch Hiede Montag, Ashlee Dupre and Danielle Staub compete for partnership in a restaurant owned by Dolce Group. It just makes me sad and kind of nauseated.
I suppose the reviews could be the work of sock puppets, but I did have a great meal there myself on opening day, Tuesday.
Generally, the profusion of sock puppets on every website is a great annoyance. Most don't seem to realize their multiple identities can be easily traced. But, whatever. I want my double-Apache burger.

Love pork belly.
Some food just doesn't photograph well, even if it is tasty.
Nothing wrong with grease on the walls if the burger is tasty.
