Gravy Train: Swit Bakery coming to Westside, Hankook adding location

Swit Bakery, a new bakery and cafe, is coming to the Westside, opening shop next to Five Seasons Brewing. According to their Facebook page, they will be a European style bakery and serve both to-go treats for a quick breakfast and also provides the atmosphere for a lingering weekend brunch. Swit plans to open in November or December.

Hankook Taqueria, also the supplier of the popular Yumbii truck, will be open their second restaurant location. They’ll reportedly move into the shuttered Abrigo space (oh, by the way, Abrigo closed) in Midtown. They are aiming for a mid-August opening.

Atlanta’s first Smashburger location opened yesterday at Sydney Marcus and Piedmont. Smashburger serves up the typical fast-casual burger joint options including grilled burgers ("smashed to order"), chicken sandwiches, salads, fries and the like. They offer a variety of toppings, but stick to the classics - you won’t find any foie gras here. The menu will feature a special Atlanta Burger, topped with peach BBQ sauce, Wicked Pimena cheese, grilled jalapeños and Vidalia coleslaw along with an Atlanta Dog with similar toppings.

Underground Atlanta has finally gotten in on the food truck craze. They’ll be hosting lunch from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Wednesdays with all of the regular suspects. Look for the trucks on Upper Alabama Street.

Daily Candy reports on a farmer’s market outing package being offered by Terrace, the restaurant at the Ellis Hotel. For $49, diners get to accompany chef to the Peachtree Road Farmer’s Market, help shop for ingredients and then return to Terrace for a five-course meal served family style.

Chef Suzanne Vizethann of The Hungry Peach and BYOBakeshop dinners is going to be featured on the July 19 episode of Food Network’s "Chopped."

The opening of Marlow’s Tavern in Cumming, originally scheduled for July 19, has been delayed until July 26.
