Omnivore - A new Grindhouse Killer Burgers? Yumbii opening at Sweet Auburn

I lunched today at Grindhouse Killer Burgers on Piedmont Ave. I ran into owner Alex Brounstein who confirmed that his original location in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market is for sale. In fact, he said he has a list of prospective buyers but has yet to select one.

Once the Curb Market location is sold, he plans to begin scouting locations for a second restaurant “somewhere.” He assured me that he’s not tempted by the hot dog trend and will be sticking with burgers (although the current menu does include a refreshingly pedestrian weenie).

Brounstein also told me that Yumbii, the “far out food” truck, will be opening soon at Sweet Auburn Curb Market. They’ll be taking the place vacated by The Greek Gyros and Pizza.

I assume that the opening of both Yumbii and Sweet Auburn BBQ in the market is to fulfill the city’s requirement that food truck operators work out of a “brick and mortar” location.
