Gravy Train: A new brewery, Yumbii adds a second truck

There’s a new brewery in town - or just out of town! Red Hare Brewing is ready for some tasting action in Marietta. The brewery was started by a couple of guys who decided to ditch the corporate world and start brewing in their basement. Last weekend they welcomed their first official guests at the brewery on Delk Road. They’ll be open for tastings Friday and Saturday, check Facebook for details. The beers will also be available at Ale Yeah in growlers.

Yumbii launched their second taco truck this week - twice the yumminess! Speaking of food trucks, if you’re looking for Midtown’s Street Food Thursdays lunch you’ll need to scoot on down to the new location at 12th and Peachtree.

Verde, the popular Brookhaven taqueria, opened their new Collier Road location this week. The menu includes a variety of tacos and quesadillas and is open for lunch and dinner daily.

Sweetgrass Dairy, out of Thomasville, will be phasing out it’s goat cheese products and will no longer produce them as of January 2012. This is the second Georgia dairy to cut back their product line recently - the first being AtlantaFresh halting cheese production. Eat more cheese, people! Sweetgrass will continue to offer their award-winning cow’s milk cheeses.

Decatur Metro shares the mustache-centric logo for this year’s Decatur Craft Beer Festival. This one’s sure to sell a lot of t-shirts.

The Atlanta episode of "The Great Food Truck Race" airs on September 18. Tune in to see Kevin Rathbun and lots of other locals on The Food Network.

Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint has appointed Hank Reid as the new executive chef. Reid cut his teeth at well known Atlanta establishments including Bones and Blue Ridge Grill. Reid also owned and operated Trinity Bistro in Snellville.

Hankook has launched the website for their new Midtown restaurant, Takorea, opening later this month.

Tomorrow’s News Today reports that Three on the Tree has closed their Roswell location.

In other froyo news, Cowlicks Yogurt and Floats opened their Sandy Springs location on Hammond Drive last weekend. This is the second Atlanta location for Cowlicks. Is anyone else kind of grossed out by the name Cowlicks? No? Just me?

The Ansley Mall location of Bordwalk Fresh Burger and Fries opens today. 100% of today's sales will be donated to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Blue Moon Pizza recently opened their new Buckhead location and will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday. During Monday's grand opening, 50% of all proceeds will be donated to Buckhead Christian Ministry. This is the third Atlanta location for Blue Moon.

A few weeks ago we told you about the new Sunday Supper menu being served at Ray’s Killer Creek. Rays announced this week that the menu of Southern classics, originally crafted to replace brunch, will be available all day on Sundays including at dinner service.

Wingstop has announced they’ve locked in franchise agreements to bring 15 new locations to the Atlanta area - where we currently have only two. The first new location is expected to open in early 2012.

Darwin’s Burgers and Blues (formerly just Darwin’s) recently reopened with a facelift in Marietta. The restaurant plans to hold an official grand opening on October 1.

According to an email sent out by All Y’all’s Wine and Gourmet, the Roswell specialty shop is going out of business. All items - including wine and beer - are marked down through October 1. All Y’all’s is owned by The Condiment Group, which also operates Pico Autentico and The Fickle Pickle.
