Last night in Charleston, CL food and drink editor Besha Rodell was awarded first place in the 2011 Association of Food Journalists award for "Best Food Essay." In the essay, "Around the clock at Waffle House," Rodell chronicles 24 hours in the diner's Cheshire Bridge Road location, eating the food, speaking with staff, and taking in the scene.
Rodell has won awards from AFJ in the past. In 2009, she received an award for "My week on an all-Georgia diet." Congrats to Besha or, as Waffle House's Ms. Shirley would say, "You did fine, baby."
