Brianna Jenkins, a local chef who was featured on The Next Food Network Star Season 6, is opening not one, but two bakeries in Midtown. La Mongerie Bakery Deux is located on Ponce (we first heard of this spot several months back) and there will also be a larger location called La Mongerie Bakery & Bistro opening in the former Agnes and Muriel’s on Monroe.

A new Japanese restaurant called Umma’s House opened this week in Tech Square. They describe themselves as a “well being oriented restaurant” with healthy food including sushi and Korean dishes. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, but closes early (8 p.m.) and won’t be serving alcohol.

Hodgepodge, a coffee shop and gallery, will be opening on Moreland just across from the center that houses Morelli’s, Little Azio and Spoon. They’ll be dishing out coffee, tea and pastries while creating an environment that fosters community artists. The space is also the new, permanent home of The Cupcake Crusade.
