Brianna Jenkins, a local chef who was featured on The Next Food Network Star Season 6, is opening not one, but two bakeries in Midtown. La Mongerie Bakery Deux is located on Ponce (we first heard of this spot several months back) and there will also be a larger location called La Mongerie Bakery & Bistro opening in the former Agnes and Muriel’s on Monroe.

A new Japanese restaurant called Umma’s House opened this week in Tech Square. They describe themselves as a “well being oriented restaurant” with healthy food including sushi and Korean dishes. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, but closes early (8 p.m.) and won’t be serving alcohol.

Hodgepodge, a coffee shop and gallery, will be opening on Moreland just across from the center that houses Morelli's, Little Azio and Spoon. They’ll be dishing out coffee, tea and pastries while creating an environment that fosters community artists. The space is also the new, permanent home of The Cupcake Crusade.

Bell Street Burritos has landed on the shuttered Social House for their first location outside of Sweet Auburn Curb Market - a relief for those who crave burritos on weekends.

Kevin Rathbun is getting some serious airtime. According to the Rathbun’s Facebook page, the chef can be seen on Game Day Live this Sunday morning and will also be appearing in a Gas South commercial.

SweetWater took home a gold medal (for Sch’Wheat) and a bronze medal (for the limited edition Crank Tank) at the recent Great American Beer Festival. SweetWater was up against 2,400 different beers from an estimated 465 U.S. breweries, and has taken home 12 medals from this competition over the years.

Aren’t satisfied with the current mobile taco offerings in Atlanta? No worries, The Taco Buggy is launching soon. It’s a taco truck! It’s a VW Bug! It’s both!

Another new food truck alert! Local catering outfit Canava Cafe is attempting to raise funds to start up a vegetarian food truck - so all you veggie lovers, get on over to Indie GoGo and pledge your support. The food truck, called Love Burger Express, aims to help make maintaining a healthy lifestyle a bit easier. They’ll over a small menu of vegetarian, gluten free and live food options.

Flemings, a national chain with a location in Dunwoody, has added a small plates menu - though with a price range of $15 - $22, one would hope they aren’t too small!

A new Mellow Mushroom location is opening next week at The Avenue at Forsyth in Cumming.

If a restaurant has seasonal menus, they probably just released their fall edition. We’ve gotten a slew of emails from restaurants like Livingston, The Sun Dial, Figo and ONE. Midtown Kitchen announcing the arrival of sweet potato-y, rib sticking comfort foods for the impending chill of fall. ONE. Midtown Kitchen is running a note-able promotion for fall food lovers: 50% off ($25 max) every Sunday - Wednesday from now through the end of November.
