Weekend Food Events, Oct. 7-9

Callaway Gardens Thurs., Oct. 6, 6-9 p.m., Fri., Oct. 7, 10 a.m.-11 p.m., Sat., Oct. 8, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sun., Oct. 9, 9-11 a.m. Callaway Gardens hosts the inaugural Harvest Moon Festival, a 4-day food and music festival. Musical guests include the B-52s, Gin Blossoms, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Mat Kearney, Shawn Mullins, and John Hiatt. Celebrity chefs include Claire Robinson, host of the Food Network’s "5 Ingredient Fix," and more. There will also be an eco-friendly Vendor Village and Callaway Gardens Farmers Market, live college football will be featured on the big screen as well as a Children’s Zone. A limited number of overnight and weekend packages are available.Details

Turner Field Sat., Oct. 8, 3-8 p.m. The Great Atlanta Beer Fest is a new festival that will feature hundreds of beers from America and Europe. College football will be featured on nearly 20 TVs throughout the Chop House, and there will be live music on the stage of the Grand Entry Plaza. Details

Castleberry Hill Sat., Oct. 8, 6-10 p.m. Bazaar Noir presesnts the Vegan/Vegetarian Taste of Atlanta. The event will feature dishes from various vegan/vegetarian local chefs. There will be live DJs, food demos, a tofu cook-off/ and a market filled with unique jewelry, enlightening books, and much more! Details

4th and Swift Sat., Oct. 8. 4th & Swift is offering guests a special 3-course "Break the Fast" menu in honor of Yom Kippur. Jay Swift and general manager Seth Roskind have constructed a menu for those entertaining out-of-town guests or seeking comfort in the absence of family. Details

Historic Norcross Sat., Oct. 8, 2 p.m. Culinary tour. This tour centers on the downtown area of Historic Norcross and its dense concentration of restaurants. This is a walking tour lasting approximately 3 hours (give or take…) and will include about 1 miles of casual walking (mostly on sidewalks and paved surfaces). Seven unique eateries will be featured while learning about some of the history that makes Norcross unique. Details

Abattoir Sun., Oct. 9, 6:30 p.m. Executive chef Josh Hopkins welcomes chef de cuisine Steven Devereaux Greene of Herons at The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, N.C. to Abattoir. Utilizing only ingredients from Georgia and North Carolina, the chef team will prepare a six-course meal with wine pairings. Details

Six Flags White Water Sun., Oct. 9, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Whole Hawg Happenin’ BBQ and Music Fest. The BBQ Fest is put on by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s Cobb County Clubs. Twenty select area restaurants and caterers will be on hand offering samples of their best barbecue and other dishes while a variety of bands will be playing on 2 stages throughout the day. Details
