Ford Fry's Westside restaurant to be called The Optimist

Chef Ford Fry has announced a name for his new Westside fish camp restaurant: The Optimist. The Optimist will specialize in sustainable seafood prepared in a wood-burning oven.

According to the official release, The Optimist is slated to open in the spring. In addition to the main restaurant, there will be a more casual offshoot called Oyster Bar at The Optimist with an outdoor patio, live music and (duh) an oyster bar.

The restaurant's moniker was inspired by Chef Fry's father, an avid sailor. For those less versed in seaman's terms, an optimist is apparently a small, single-handed sailing dinghy intended for use by children up to the age of 15.

The Optimist is located at 914 Howell Mill Road.
