Hodgepodge Coffeehouse and Gallery plans to open its doors in January 2012 and offer more than gourmet coffee, this establishment is devoted to being a community-focused and environmentally conscious place for artists, cupcake and coffee lovers.
They will serve Batdorf & Bronson coffee. The question is, can a coffeehouse survive in this location? There have been a number of cafes in the now-vacant spot in the Ormewood Square shopping center that faces Ormewood Ave, next to Lucky Exchange. Perhaps the fact that those spots were not visible from Moreland made a difference, but I for one miss the drive-through coffee option so close to my house. The other factor was most likely that over the years it seemed as though very few people who worked in those cafes actually knew what they were doing. It was kind of impossible to get a decent coffee drink, for instance. Hopefully the folks at Hodgepodge, which look as though they're taking their coffee very seriously, will survive and thrive.

I know for a fact this place is going to be amazing. With delicious and inventive cupcakes meeting up with up impeccable style and great ideas, you're going to want to make this spot part of your life.
I'm excited about the new addition. To your point about the location, I'm curious about whether there will be enough parking spaces.
Coffee and cupcakes. Mmmm. Good luck to them.
There is actually a parking lot surrounding the building with a bunch of spots, which has just been redone - I'd say about 20 spots maybe. Apart from that it might be hard though - you can't park on Moreland or Ormewood. You'd have to park on Brownwood and walk around the block.
Actually it's East Atlanta. It's on the East Atlanta side of Moreland, across the street from Ormewood Square.
where is there street parking:
Ormewood, brownwood, woodland, gracewood, Hall ave... everywhere... rpovided you're willing to walk as far as you would when shopping at a grocery store at 6 PM
Since I usually pass this spot in the evening, I totally missed the new parking lot. It reminds me of Dancing Goats location in Decatur.
Looking forward to checking it out. All the best to Hodgepodge.
It's a shame this building no longer sports the immortal couplet, "Only place in town selling clothes by the LB."
