Post-gym snack

I burned out on cupcakes about 20 minutes after they became a super-trend. But yesterday, stuck in traffic on my way home from the gym, I decided to wheel into the Atlanta Cupcake Factory. I felt like I deserved a reward for working out 90 minutes.

It was about 5 p.m., an hour before closing, and the store was almost sold-out. I wanted to try the pear-gingerbread and the salted caramel-sugar cookie, but no such luck. Instead, I settled for the over-exposed lemon one, along with a masterpiece of sweet potato and brown sugar. I ate both on the way home and I have an insufferable craving for more of the gooey latter, which left my hands and steering wheel sticky.

The person at the cash register told me that for the best selection, I should come at 11 a.m., when the shop opens. That's true, I'm sure, but it means planning ahead and I don't eat such calorific treats except on impulse.
