How to sabotage a workout

meringue.jpg

Another visit to the gym, another visit to the Little Tart Bakeshop on the way home. Hey, it was teatime.

This trip, I was excited to see a jar full of fat meringue cookies like those that fill the front windows of so many Paris bakeries. Honestly, if you don't eat anything else tomorrow go get one of these. They are classic — crispy and airy, melting like sweet powder in the mouth, then giving away to a chewy texture punctuated by bits of chocolate. Your mission is to not eat six of them.

Just in case I didn't like the meringue, I also got two of my favorite ginger cookies. I took it all home and ate them in a flash with a cup of mint tea.
