Boners BBQ's owner Andrew Capron posted an official Facebook apology Tues. afternoon, to Stephanie S., the dissatisfied Yelper he publicly skewered on Facebook after reading her less than complimentary online review.
Dear, Stephanie S. - We are truly sorry, it was a bonehead move on our part. But more importantly - it was rude to you and an inappropriate use of social media, which has been a driving force for our business because we can't afford traditional advertising. We rely on word-of-mouth. Your experience was yours to share and not mine to abuse. Boners BBQ is my passion and my life. Please give me the opportunity to serve you again at our expense- if not please allow me to fully refund your money on me, Sincerely, Andrew Capron.
And what was the "bonehead move" you ask? Well what had happened was .... Ok, so Ms. S and her husband have dinner at Boners BBQ. S is not pleased with her experience so she posts a review on Yelp. In most scenarios this would be the end of the transaction, but on this particular day, the Boners' people were not havin' it. Basically, they posted this woman's picture on their Facebook page and called her a bitch. Gasp!
NOT WANTED! (Stephanie S.) left waitress 0.00 tip on a $40 tab after she received a Scoutmob discount. If you see this women in your restaurant tell her to go outside and play hid and go fuck yourself! Yelp that bitch.
Yeah, that really happened. UNmarketing.com has got the whole play-by-play if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Wow. I don't know about the tip issue -- but Stephanie S.'s review about Boners was A LOT nicer than what I had to say about it to my friends after my first (and last) visit there.
When I was there, the food temperatures were all over they place. And even worse, all the portions were miniscule at normal prices. Out of our group of 6, four of us were so hungry when we left that we went to another restaurant for a second dinner. (I cannot remember ever having needed to do that before.)
I'd always wondered what the sexual double-entendres in the place reflected about the owner's attitudes. Apparently, Stephanie S.'s experience is our clue: It seems they enjoy running a restaurant like a frat-house, with all the negative assumptions about attitude, classless humor, and lack of self-control that this implies.
And I thought the boneheaded move was their selection of that awful location...go figure!
Wow. Hide and go fuck yourself. Pretty fair sentiment, and kinda funny, but to post that on Facebook is really really dumb. Wow.
Wow wow wow. Put Boners in the camp of Bocado, Eyester/Rosebud/the infamous tweet of a customers rather large rear (among a slew of online disrespect Eyester shows to customers). Jerks. There are plenty of good places out there that appreciate their customers where folks should go instead - floataway, la pietra, sotto sotto, miller union, local three, etc.
I haven't been, so I can't comment on the food, but using a discount, and then not tipping your server, or tipping on a total adjusted after the application of a discount is terribly gauche, an renders your opinion null and void in my eyes.
Stephanie got what she deserved. Servers don't make or buy the food you eat at restaurants, they just deliver it. No tip on a discounted $40 tab because you don't like the food is classless and inappropriate to say the least. If you have a problem, ask to speak to the manager, but don't penalize the server.
Lol, who is down voting me for that in controversial statement. Take it from a former server-- this is America people, learn the rules. Tipping of servers is obligatory, and is intended to constitute the bulk of their income. Your tip the quality of the service you receive, but it is derived by the quality of food you order.
Stiffing a server is just a couple rungs up the ethics ladder from kicking a dog.
If the food quality sucks, a server would have to be exceptional to earn a good tip from me. Sorry, but that is just how it is. Typically, I tip very generously, at minimum 20% of the pre-tax (and pre-discount) tab. I know serving is a hard job, but if you're a server you KNOW it is a hard job and you should not expect a default tip simply for showing up to work. Don't like it, then perhaps serving is not your ideal job.
That said, Andrew Capron is certainly boneheaded and is simply the typical FU type of guy that is ruining this country and the service industry. This isn't a "reality show", people, it is real life. You spew out negativity, that's what you're going to receive in return.
I have no love for the Yelpers. One person with the taste buds of a labradore and multiple screen names can shut a restaurant down. Pathetic. Yealpers (and teh Kardasians) are ruining this country!
If you saw her on TV she needed to complain about her nasty cavity infested mouth before she can complain about food. UGH!!!
Uh, I can verify that ScoutMob folks are the cheapest around (along with Groupon, etc) These cheap ass people expect the world at a waaaaay discounted price. Giver her ass the boot and say ...cya !
I'll go to Boners just to support them now.
"Stiffing a server is just a couple rungs up the ethics ladder from kicking a dog."
Ha. That just made my day :)
on TV she said she tipped, but Boners' says no. That's a slight difference of opinion. If she didn't then I don't have a problem with the call-out. We (public) can call restaurants out for the slightest thing online, but they can't? Maybe she left cash and somebody took it? :/
Never ate at Boner's and probably never will. However, the wait staff, are not the cooks, or the owner. They are doing a job for less than the minimal wage or just at it and rely on the tip from the meal, for their expenses.
I hate watching disappointed customers take it out on wait staff, because of a kitchen mistake.
Even if I have to speak to management or a meal is gratis because of some error, I ALWAY PROPERLY TAKE CARE OF THE WAIT STAFF.
Wow, apologizing and not sticking up for your hardworking staff. What a dumb ass, spineless move. Waiters deserve tips, BOTTOM line. If the waiter was rude, then yes. Don't tip, but come on. Had that been me (the owner), I would have told the lady to screw herself. Apology? For what? You act like a twat, you get treated like one. I stick to my guns and my employees (when they are right). Loser. You just lost more respect for your stupid franchise. "Boners BBQ?" More like "Flacid's BBQ."
Stick to your guns Boners! My wife just told me about the original story and my immediate response was, "I want to go there!" Now, hearing that he wimped out, I no longer feel that compelled to make the trip. Screw the cheapskates, stick up for your staff!
She says she tipped, they said she didn't -- I'm more likely to believe here only because she didn't publicly invite the restaurant staff to hide and go fuck themselves. Seems to me that it's an easy way to vilify the customer (thus negating her review) -- as we all know, non-tippers are assholes, right? Based on her review and their facebook commentary and following reversal, I lean toward believing her.
Servers do not cook the food; therefore, they should not be judged on how the food tastes. The only thing a server should be judged on is their service to the customer in terms of having a good attitude, frequently checking on the customer to ensure they have enough to drink, condiments, and cutlery, as well as communicating with the customer when their is a delay in the kitchen that would cause the customer to wait a long time to get their food. These servers do not make much money in their base wages, which means they rely heavily on tips. To rack up a $40 food bill (and get discounts) and then decided not to tip the server because you don't like they food they had no hand in cooking is shameful. And if you got a discount as this customer did and didn't leave a tip for your server why would the customer feel she had any right to badmouth the restaurant. Unless the server was just horrendous and unless the food made me sick, I wouldn't have written any type of review for the restauant anyway when my own actions were not so decent.
Servers are the laziest people on earth who all expect you to tip when they do horrible jobs. There is nothing more pathetic than a hipster server giving you crappy service and then feeling entitled to a 20% tip that they can go blow on drugs while their daddy pays all their bills. Servers are the lowest rung of our society.
having been a server while i was a freshman in college so i would have a tiny bit of spending money, AND WITHOUT MY PARENTS PAYING FOR ANYTHING (was on scholarship) I can say that you and the three people who upvoted your comment are fucking jackoffs, "yeahISaidIT"
Lets seeeee, scoutmob coupon, HHHUUUGGGEEEE woman, with black teeth, and a review on yelp..... Who the f*** cares?? Sounds like the owner made the right call. F****** pig of a woman.
