Now's the time to buy a restaurant

Wanna buy a restaurant? There's plenty to choose from on the Shumacher Group's site.

I'm sorry but not surprised to see that Midtown's Amuse is for sale for $175,000. It's owned by the Apres Diem folks and just never seemed to catch on.

Apparently, Gekko is already trying to get out of its lease of the space that was Repast, one of my favorite restaurants in the city.

Can you guess the identity of this "critically acclaimed" restaurant-bar on North Highland?

Why not buy the Decatur Diner? Didn't new owners just re-open it after a $600,000 renovation? It's yours for a paltry $450,000. Value of the diner's reputation? Ouch.

Speaking of Decatur, Shumacher is also brokering the recently-reduced lease on the Watershed space with this notation: "Current lease is at approximately $23.00/sf with extras at $5.65. Landlord has stated that they will not negotiate rental rate but is willing to discuss some rental abatement and adding up to ten years to current lease for qualified Tenant on current ease that expires in November 2013."

How about a certain barely two-year-old "Midtown Atlanta Ice Cream, Smoothie, Frozen Yogurt, Desert Cafe"? Or why not buy Midtown's Prickly Pear Taqueria for $250,000? J.R. Crickets, new to Castleberry Point, is already for sale too.

But maybe you want to buy something ginormous. Among those, Shumacher is listing four: the former Up the Creek Fish Camp in Snellville, the Stone Mountain Hardees, the Alpharetta Champs and Flambeaux in Lithonia.

And so it goes in the "recovering" economy.
