Pastry chef Eric Wolitzky to lead bakery team

The team at Cakes & Ale have added seasoned pastry chef Eric Wolitzky to their ranks. According to their website, Wolitzky will “lead their bakery team: bread bakers Pedro Matos and Al Samonte, sweets and dessert bakers Patrick Dineen, Becky Vocaire, Imelda Gonzalez and Michelle Lance.”

Wolitzky previously served as Pastry Chef for Baked, a celebrated bakery and café located in Red Hook, Brooklyn, where his focus was updated classic American comfort desserts. Most recently, he appeared on Bravo’s “Top Chef Just Desserts,” competing in 8 out of 10 episodes.

As Decatur-Avondale Patch reports, Wolitzky will pick up where Cynthia Wong left off last summer after she left for a position at Empire State South.

And just to clear up any confusion, lunch will still be prepared by local chef David Sweeney, creator of the ‘astonishing’ grain bowl.
