Robert Carver of Carver's Country Kitchen passes away

The sign above, posted this morning to the front door of Carver's Country Kitchen, says it all. Most anyone who ate at Carver's had the pleasure of meeting Robert Carver. He probably made change for you while sittting under a sign that reads, "Our credit manager is Helen Waite. If you want credit, you can go to Hell-en Waite." He probably kindly asked that you would come back again soon. That's as far as I knew him.

The PBA show Get Delicious asked Carver why the restaurant had become such an iconic establishment in Atlanta's food scene and he said, "Well, because we got the best country cooking in Atlanta." That's the sort of straightforward attitude that made Carver such a pleasure to be around. We'll miss him.
