Shaun Doty discusses his forthcoming Ansley Mall restaurant, Bantam & Biddy, over on Nation's Restaurant News. The rotisserie chicken restaurant will feature free-range chicken on a meat-and-three style menu, with both traditional and seasonal sides. So, think Boston Market for locavores. Pricing will be $8-$10 at lunch and $12-$15 at dinner. They will open for breakfast, too (serving pastured eggs, of course).

A new piano bar called Tailfeathers is coming to Buckhead this fall. The menu reads like a suburban steakhouse (crab fritters, cedar plank salmon, and the like), and will change seasonally. They are keeping things trim, with all entrees clocking in at 475 calories or less.

The Pinewood Tippling Room, opening soon in Decatur, has been teasing Facebook fans with pictures of their menu items. So far, we've seen a fried bologna sandwich, pork kabobs, funnel cakes, and a few signature cocktails. Chef Julia Leroy is consulting on the menu, which seems to lean toward quirky and nostalgic dishes.

Over on Eater, we hear the cute story of how Jake's Ice Cream developed their newest flavor. "Rachel, Will You Marry Me" was created using all of one lucky lady's favorite ingredients, so that her boyfriend could pop the question at Jake's. Rachel must have some good taste - her signature flavor includes pretzels, chocolate chips and peanut butter swirl over a salted caramel base. You can try it out at Jake's inside Irwin Street Market.

A new bar and grill called The Ranch opened a few weeks ago in College Park. Get excited, because they have a mechanical bull! They also have eight different VIP areas, girls in cowboy hats and chaps, lots of TV's, and a full menu with steaks, wings, sandwiches, and other casual eats.

Kirkwood's Le Petit Marché is moving ... right across the street. Opening in early 2013, they will anchor the new development at 1986 Hosea Williams Drive. The new location will give the restaurant more space and more parking for customers. They also plan to expand their menu.

On April 22, a fierce culinary competition took place in small town Georgia. Only one chef could emerge as the champion of Georgia's own Vidalia onion, and this year it was Hilary White, owner and executive chef of The Hil at Serenbe, who took home The Golden Onion. White beat out twelve other Georgia chefs with her dish, a Caramelized Vidalia Onion Fritter with Serenbe Farm Vegetable Slaw and Mustard Vinaigrette.

More news from Serenbe, Garrett Marsteller has joined the team at The Farmhouse. Most recently, Marsteller was working under Chef Josh Hopkins at Abattoir.

Chipotle is opening a new location on Howell Mill Road, just a stone's throw from Willy's and Bell Street Burritos. Pick your horse!

Pollo Tropical opens today on Cobb Parkway, near Cumberland Mall. Currently, the quick service chicken restaurant only has one other Georgia location - all the way up in Lawrenceville. Pollo Tropical, based in South Florida, is known for grilling their chicken over an open flame, usually in an area visible to guests. Not a chicken lover? Their menu also has pork and vegetarian options.

OpenTable has released their list of Top 100 Brunch Restaurants, as rated by OpenTable users. The Atlanta restaurants that made the cut were Einstein's, Rosebud, and Park's Edge.

Grecian Gyro will open a new location in John's Creek this summer. This is the first franchise location for the local chain, which has company-owned locations in Hapeville, Tucker, and Forest Park. The quick service restaurant serves (you guessed it!) gyros, a few other wraps, and the other Greek classics including dolmades, spanakopita, and baklava.
Chef Steven Herman of Haven has been named a full partner in the restaurant. After nine years leading the kitchen, Herman will now have a hand in business operations as well.

Opening a new restaurant? Got gossip? Give us a shout at gravytrain@creativeloafing.com.
