Last week, Bone Lick BBQ opened its doors to the public for the first time. Chef Mike LaSage's long-loved barbecue finally made its way into a brick and mortar establishment after a few years of hosting a weekly pop-up barbecue night at P'cheen International Bistro in Old Fourth Ward.

The barbecue, clearly, has made enough of a name for itself — Bill Addison of Atlanta magazine ranked LaSage's cue among the best in the city in 2010. And lucky me, I got the opportunity to visit the new establishment during its opening week.

Upon arrival, we were directed to the counter to order our lunch, and after doing so, we sat ourselves in a large wooden booth with a table covered in butcher's paper. In the center of the small space, there is a bar that hosts only Georgia wine and beers.

The food came out pretty quickly, and echoed the same flavors that I'd experienced at P'cheen before. Overall, my experience at Bone Lick was satisfying, filling, and inexpensive. Given the former success of P'Cheen's Bone Lick BBQ nights, and judging by the crowds we encountered last week, I think it's safe to say that Bone Lick will prove to be a solid addition to the Westside.
