Quick Bites: Paul Luna launches Guisado Caliente, Cook Hall to open in Nov., and more

DECK THE HALL: Cook Hall to open Nov. 29 at W Buckhead

Celebrated pastry chef Cynthia Wong has left Empire State South and plans to move to London. Melanie Durant, Wong's pastry assistant, has since taken over the position as the restaurant's new pastry chef.

Paul Luna recently launched Guisado Caliente, a take-out operation named after the hearty stews that it offers. Guisado Caliente will operate out of Luna's current restaurant Lunacy Black Market (231 Mitchell St.) where starting on Oct. 17, pre-made 'guisado' will be available for pick-up Wed.-Fri., 6—7 p.m., and Fridays, 11:30 a.m.—1:30 p.m. while supplies last.

Bocado owner Brian Lewis has announced that Todd Ginsberg will soon leave his post as the restaurant's executive chef. Ginsberg, who served as the restaurant's opening chef, has helmed Bocado's kitchen since 2009. In the interim, chef Adam Waller — currently chef de cuisine at Bocado's sister restaurant STG Trattoria — will step up as the chef at Bocado.

In addition to Bar Antico, Antico Pizza owner Giovanni Di Palma will also open Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano in the former Fava Mezze Mediterranean Grill space (1099 Hemphill Ave.) Di Palma's first take-out concept in Atlanta, Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano will serve traditional Italian chicken dishes. In other news, Antico Pizza now accepts reservations for birthday parties which include a traditional Italian sheet cake for groups of eight to 15 people.

Modern Restaurant + Bar announced that it will open on Oct. 20, in the space that formerly housed Copeland’s of Buckhead at 3365 Piedmont Road.

Cook Hall, billed as "a place where chefs would dream of gathering," is scheduled to open on Nov. 29 in the former Market space at W Buckhead.
