Four of us dined at Eclectic Bistro and Bar recently. This is the new occupant of the building vacated by (the much-missed) Tierra.
As the name suggests, the menu is all over the place with dishes from Greece, Italy, Portugal, and more. The main change to the dining room is the addition of a bar. The ambiance is super-friendly. And another attraction is the prices — relatively inexpensive, especially for the Ansley Park location.
I ordered veal marsala ($18) with portobello mushrooms, roasted potatoes, and sauteed spinach. The latter was the only misfire on the plate. But it was also the designated side on a friend's dish and tasted fine. Other entrees on the table were moussaka ($10), one of the better versions I've encountered in a while, and a grilled New York strip steak ($25).
We shared an entree of mussels ($13) as an appetizer, along with tzatziki ($6) with pita bread, and Portuguese clams with tomatoes, chorizo and croutons ($10).
Generally the food is well prepared. The menu, which apparently changes now and then, is not adventurous either in selection of dishes or preparation, but, as bistro food, it works quite well. Worried about trying it? Grab the 50 percent-off deal on Scoutmob.
