In the new year, Chef Asha Gomez of Cardamom Hill will take her menu in a different direction - a fusion of Indian and southern American cuisines much like her celebrated Kerala-style fried chicken.
The new takeout venture from Antico Pizza owner Giovanni DiPalma, Gio's Chicken Amalfitano, originally slated for late November, is now scheduled to open next week at 1099 Hemphill Ave. (next door to Antico). Gio's will feature several Italian chicken dishes such as classic Sorrento Lemon.
Ford Fry has partnered with North American Properties, Vantage Atlanta, and Iconologic to bring Atlanta its first non-profit food truck in 2013. Although the name and concept have yet to be determined, the truck will benefit City of Refuge, a local non-profit dedicated to community development.
Mi Barrio in Grant Park will remain closed until the new year as the restaurant's owners head to their hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco, in Mexico for an extended vacation. Mi Barrio plans to reopen in January 2013.

Thrillist reports that a new barbecue restaurant near the airport, from Tony Morrow of The Pecan, is now open. Tony Morrow's Real Pit BBQ is located at 3807 Main St., College Park.
