The latest issue of Christiane Lauterbach's Knife & Fork is out and, as always, is packed with news and reviews. This month, Christiane reviews five restaurants, all of which she grants 2.5 stars.
The lead review is of Bantam + Biddy, which, by the way, seems to be doing a quite brisk business now. Christiane starts her review this way:
As much as we would like to see Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere reunited in a more upscale context than this spiffy restaurant focusing on rotisserie chicken, their formidable talents and sourcing of ingredients define Bantam + Biddy as a benchmark operation in the affordable sector.
She says the restaurant serves "the best affordable roast chicken in town," and goes on to cite the chopped liver, pork schnitzel, and the chicken pot pie (one of my favorites).
She also reviews Ameer's on Briarcliff (which I also visited recently), Candler Park Market Deli; Milano Bakery & Cafe whose Bibimbap Burger she raves about; and Marisqueria el Veneno, the latest Mexican seafood joint to open on Buford Highway.
She also reviews 13 cocktail bars she considers the city's best. (One has to wonder if judgment becomes impaired around visit number 5.)
