Denny's and police kiss and make up

Attention, cops everywhere! The corporate management of Denny's has officially apologized that the manager of its restaurant in Belleville, IL, kicked five cops out for wearing guns. (Note: some news reports didn't mention that the cops were plainclothes detectives and that the manager's understanding was that only uniformed cops were allowed to bear arms inside.)

The terribly humiliating experience caused the five officers to flee the restaurant, even after they were invited back in by another manager. Then, the outraged Belleville police chief instituted a policy forbidding cops to eat in the restaurant.

On Friday, following the Denny's apology, the chief announced that members of the force may resume enjoying their Grand Slam breakfasts, the healthy alternative to the donut dinner.

Denny's needs the police. Who doesn't remember that Rush Limbaugh used to drive to his neighborhood Denny's and hand his housekeeper a cigar box full of cash in exchange for a bag of OxyContin? I'm sure, had they known, the police would have slid out of their booths and arrested Rush pronto.

Here's the story about the original drama:
