Quick Bites: New chefs at Southern Art, Two Urban Licks, and more

Timothy Magee named executive chef of Southern Art

Celebrity chef Art Smith has named Timothy Magee (formerly of Concentrics Restaurants, Fifth Group Restaurants, and Buckhead Life) as executive chef of Southern Art. Additionally, the restaurant has named Clay Livingston as head mixologist and lead bartender for Southern Art and Bourbon Bar.

Holeman & Finch has updated its operating hours and will now close earlier during the week. New hours for the public house are Mon.-Thurs., 5 p.m.-midnight; Fri.-Sat., 5 p.m.-1:30 a.m.; Brunch: Sun., 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Todd Stein, formerly of BANK (Minneapolis), David Burke (Las Vegas) mk, the restaurant, cibo matto and The Florentine (Chicago), has been named executive chef of Two Urban Licks. Stein, who received a Rising Star Award from StarChefs.com in 2005, will make his official debut in February.

Cruzado (366 5th St.) has officially unveiled its new lounge area in the space that formerly housed a bodega connected to the restaurant's predecessor Las Palmeras. The space has been renovated into a lounge and bar with group seating and an open atmosphere.

Honey Bubble owner Doug Hines reports that the Asian fusion café will open later this week pending city approval. Located across the street from the Clermont Lounge at 798 Ponce de Leon Ave., Honey Bubble will serve flavored loose leaf teas and coffee in addition to clear and milk bubble teas.

Melissa Allen (formerly of Shaun's, Miso Izakaya, and Pura Vida) will join Josh Sample as Victory Sandwich Bar's co-executive chef. After a few unexpected hiccups, Victory co-owner Ian Jones hopes to open the bar's forthcoming Decatur location (340 Church St.) later this month.

After opening its first U.S. restaurant at the Shops at Metropolis in Midtown last December, European-based Italian chain La Tagliatella has opened its second location at 1540 Avenue Place in Emory Point.

Dunkin Donuts opened its newest store at 1766 Howell Mill Road on Saturday. The newly renovated Atlanta location sports a sleek, modern look and drive-thru.
