  • Charlotte's Web: Cancer Touches Us All event on Feb. 26 at SweetWater Brewery

On Tues., Feb. 26, local chefs from around the region will host a benefit in honor of fellow chef Charlotte Nelson, 37, who lost her battle with breast cancer earlier this month. The event will be a gathering of friends, family and anyone who wishes to provide support to find a cure. All proceeds will go to assisting her family with medical bills, and also, per Nelson's wishes, to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization that donates 91 cents of every dollar directly to breast cancer research. For more information visit

Nelson became head chef at Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q in late 2011, after working there for two years. She previously worked in a number of top Atlanta restaurants including Canoe, Atmosphere and Taurus, and opened Livingston with Gary Mennie of Canoe.

The event, Charlotte's Web: Cancer Touches Us All, will include samples from 16 top local chefs, hors d'oeuvres, beer and cocktails, live music from Moontower, and a silent auction. Tasting tables will be set up at SweetWater Brewery, where chefs will provide offerings of an assortment of food. U.S. Foods is donating all chef proteins and Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Big Tex Decatur will provide passed hors d'oeuvres for donors.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here.

After CL went to press with this story, the price of the event was reduced to $50.
