Citing a lack of low-key spots in the city to grab a hit of the traditional Middle Eastern tobacco pipe, her work on Cru has made it both cozier and more upscale. Lee has a history of rescuing flailing establishments, like Midtown Cuban restaurant Cruzado, which she revived with new decor and cuisine in 2012. For now, the culinary crew from Cruzado will preside over its new menu of small plates, which range from flatbread pizza, to sliders, to Latin chicken wings.
