Atlanta is a town that loves its festivals and big parties - especially when there is food involved. It seems like new events are popping up everywhere. But, if you are a bona fide food nerd, the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival is the place to be this weekend.
This Friday through Sunday, chefs, mixologists, and producers will flock to Atlanta from all over the Southeast armed with their signature dishes and cocktails to share. The educational aspect, AKA Learning Experiences, make this festival special. Each day, there will be blocks of learning sessions held inside the Loews Atlanta Hotel. With more than 100 sessions to choose from, culinary professionals from all over the region will hold demonstrations, discussions, beverage tasting seminars (like a Pappy Van Winkle tasting), and more.
If you are interested in going to the event, tickets are still available although many of the off-site festival dinners being held around town are sold out. Day passes for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are $185 per day and include three Learning Experiences , one Tasting Tent session, a gift bag, and a one-year subscription to Food & Wine magazine.
Feeling like a baller? For $700, the "Connoisseur pass" gets you access to practically everything and includes three Connoisseur Learning Experiences (exclusive tastings and demonstrations), one Tasting Tent Session with VIP Entrance, one Connoisseur Breakfast, the Blackberry Farm Dinner (Saturday night), access to the Connoisseur Lounge, Connoisseur gift bag, dedicated concierge to assist with planning, and a one-year subscription to Food & Wine magazine.
A few CL food and drink writers will be bouncing around the event all weekend. You can keep up with us on Twitter (@blissfulglutton, @stephaniedazey, and @grayhchapman). If you plan to attend, join the conversation by tagging your tweets and photos with the event's official hashtag: #AFWF14.
