Quick Bites: Bartaco opens, Victory's Inman Park return postponed, and more

The team behind Connecticut-based Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant opened the first Atlanta-area location of its bartaco concept on July 1. The Westside "upscale street food" spot at 969 Marietta St. offers Mexican-style summer-friendly bites like baja fish tacos, gazpacho, black bean ceviche, and churros. Margaritas, mojitos, and other alcoholic drinks are available at quite reasonable prices.

Just a half mile away at 881 Marietta St., Delia's Chicken Sausage Stand debuted its second Atlanta location on Wednesday, July 2. Featuring outdoor patio dining and a sweeping view of the city, this fresh Westside outpost offers the same savory chicken sausage dogs and red velvet cupcakes that have made it a cult favorite. It also boasts a newly-installed soda fountain.

Due to mounting permit delays and red tape from the city, the Inman Park resurgence of Victory Sandwich Bar (913 Bernina Ave.,) is expected to remain on hold well into fall, much to the chagrin of owner Ian Jones. But in the meantime, he let Atlanta magazine in on his next venture, a yet-to-be-titled bar in the White Provisions District that will fall somewhere between Victory and sister concept Paper Plane. There's now a Kickstarter campaign in place for The Cockentrice, the concept from The Spotted Trotter slated to hit Krog Street Market (99 Krog Street) when the Inman Park development opens this fall. Legacy Property Group — the team behind restaurants such as Der Biergarten, Max’s Pizza, Game-X and Article 14 — is planning to open a new Downtown barbecue joint, Twin Smokers. Scheduled to debut in late August at 300 Marietta St., the restaurant will serve slow-cooked beef, pork, and poultry, plus a hefty selection of bourbon, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reveals.

In case you missed it, popular pop-up concept Illegal Foods' run at Joystick Gamebar (427 Edgewood Ave.) will soon come to an end. Joystick Gamebar owners Johnny Martinez and Brandon Ley told Eater that the partnership was not intended to be permanent. Illegal is currently seeking out a new HQ. We'll keep you posted.

Two years after its scheduled opening, a Downtown boîte, which was wrecked by a fire one week before its unveiling, will finally make its debut at 393 Marietta St. on July 11. Billed as an art gallery, creative cooperative, lounge, and bar, Studio No. 7 will offer a collaborative workspace by day, but craft cocktails, fine art shows, Latin- and Asian-inspired street foods, and live DJ tunes by night, reveals owner Shannon Evans.

Max's Wine Dive, a Texas-based "gourmet comfort food" restaurant, opened its highly-anticipated Midtown location at 77 12th St. on July 1, offering dishes like Southern fried chicken, Max ‘n Cheese, Nacho Mama’s Oysters, Pea & Mint Ravioli, and Lobster Benedict — care of Saltyard and Livingston alum Jason Hall — plus a highly curated selection of wines from around the world, a few of which are on tap.

Perpetually on-the-move mixtress Arianne Fielder has resurfaced after departing PARISH Foods & Goods, where she had initially paired up with chef Zeb Stevenson to revamp the beverage program. Now, Atlanta magazine reveals that the blonde barkeep will run the craft drink section of Bellwoods Social House, the Westside concept from Leif Johnson set to open any day now at 1000 Marietta St.

Decaturish has the latest on Butter and Cream, the ice cream and dessert shop from Stacy Wisniewski that opened Thursday, July 3 at 416 Church St. The bona fide, full-fat ingredients of the shop's namesake are expected to set it apart from its Decatur competition, which mostly offer healthier fro-yo options. In addition to standard ice cream and desserts, the boutique also serves house-made sauces, cookies, and ice cream sandwiches.
