Weâre sure there must have been a time when the Presidential Medal of Freedom actually meant something. Itâs too bad 81-year-old Harper Lee had to wait until the Bush administration to snag one.
On Monday, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of To Kill a Mockingbird was honored along with seven others. Congrats, Harper.
Only problem is she joins previous winners such as former CIA director/bungler George Tenet and Iraq reconstruction guru/fumbler L. Paul Bremer. Which is a shame, considering this yearâs group has some impressive credentials.
Hereâs a look at the winners.
It marked a rare moment for Lee, who never gives interviews and doesnât make the scene much these days.
