YouTube: ‘Heroes of the Writer's Strike’

Posted by Curt Holman on Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 3:26 PM

The members of Hollywood’s Writer’s Guild of America have gone on strike. Shows most immediately vulnerable to the write-stoppage will be fake-news programs like “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report,” as well as talk shows like "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," with episodic television and movies having stockpiled scripts in advance.

For a tongue-in-cheek portrait of how the strike will effect the screenwriters, some WGA members wrote and directed this humorous, PSA-type short on YouTube. It may have an unintended consequence, however: Given that the screenwriters depicted include the scribes of the likes of the the Deuce Bigelow movies and Sweet Home Alabama, maybe they should stay on strike.
