The Book Festival of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta keeps rolling along with its literary juggernaut, and weâd be remiss if we didnât keep you updated on all the fun â even on a Tuesday. Today itâs Amy Cohen, author of the recently released The Late Bloomerâs Revolution (Hyperion), about the perils of dating when youâre not as young as the competition but still single and available. Hereâs a snippet from the Publishers Weekly review:
Like Candace Bushnell, Cohen was a dating columnist for the New York Observer, with stories that drew liberally upon her friends' experiences and commentaries â and itâs hard not to compare characters like John the TV journalist or George the rock star to âMr. Big.â Cohenâs misadventures have a much deeper masochistic streak than âSex and the City,â even if she copes with setbacks like a virulent face rash with as much self-deprecating humor as she can muster. If the results fail to overturn Bushnellâs legacy as the reigning observer of Manhattan dating life, they make for a perfectly acceptable substitute.â
Cohen reads from and signs copies of her work at 7:30 tonight at the MJCCA location in Alpharetta (3159 Royal Drive, Suite 330; thatâs 30022, if youâre mapping). Call 678-948-4006 for more info.
