Director Alex Orr's Blood Car enjoyed a successful run on the festival circuit, but there is more exciting news ahead from the Fake Wood Wallpaper guys. I am happy to report that Mike Brune (pictured), star of Blood Car and a member of the filmmaking collective/buddy system Fake Wood Wallpaper, has made a short film, The Adventure. The Adventure is so good it will be featured in the 37th Rotterdam Film Festival, which opens Jan. 23 in the Netherlands.
The Adventure has a simple premise: a middle-class couple. A picnic. A mime. Orr described it to me as a typical wry Fake Wood Wallpaper film with a nod to Austria's cerebral shocker, Michael Haneke. The Adventure features John Curran, Deborah Childs and Tim Stoltenberg.
