You can keep your Thomas Kinkade wintry cottages and babbling brooks; for some the most tender and sentimental of subjects is a willowy preteen waiting his or her turn on a homemade plywood ramp to work out angst on a skateboard. Foundation One Gallery shows its support for the scruffy, oft-misunderstood skater with THE GRIND, an exhibit continuing today, DEC. 11 (a benefit auction was held Dec. 8), featuring skateboard decks painted by such notables as Shepard Fairey (pictured), Mike Giant, Dosa Kim and Paul Frank, among many others. The auction's proceeds will help fund the planned 30,000-square-foot concrete Swift-Cantrell public skate park in Kennesaw (www.kennesawskatepark.com). Through Dec. 22. Free. Tues.-Fri., noon-6 p.m. 627 E. College Ave., Decatur. 404-806-0925. www.foundationonegallery.com.
