Atlanta rally to support striking writers Dec. 21

Posted by Curt Holman on Thu, Dec 20, 2007 at 9:30 PM

If you’ve heard about the ongoing movie and TV writers’ strike and have wanted a chance to show your support, tomorrow is your chance. A rally in support of the striking Writers Guild of America will take place in downtown Atlanta at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21. Here are the particulars:

Day: Friday, Dec. 21

Time: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Place: Turner Inc. Midtown Campus

Corner of 10th Street and Techwood Drive

Rally point: 10:45 a.m., CVS parking lot, 151 14th St. at the corner of Techwood Drive

Supporters are encouraged to wear red and invited to gather at Manuel's Tavern afterward for lunch.

The writers' strike began Nov. 5 and shows no sign of letting up. For a seasonal metaphor to explain the strike, the studios and their parent companies are Ebenezer Scrooge, and the writers are Bob Cratchit, who wanted just a little more coal to heat the office. Or maybe the writers are George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life, and the studios/corporations are Mr. Potter. You don't want Mr. Potter to win, do you?

Hey: If anyone sees or participates in the rally and reads this blog after the fact, let us know how it went in the comments field!
