The Atlanta filmmaking and movie-buff community was thrilled when The Signal, a horror film co-directed by Jacob Gentry, Dave Bruckner and Dan Bush, was not only selected for the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, but was acquired by the art-house film distributor Magnolia Pictures, as per this story by Felicia Feaster.

Since that big news, Atlantans have seen The Signal's release dates get repeatedly bumped, but a new date -- Feb. 22 -- has been announced, along with a cool new trailer that evokes the fast-paced, fever-dream quality of Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake. Useful movie blog Cinematical champions The Signal in this post, and singles out some Atlanta actors for praise:

The Signal boasts two "dreamy" guys (the evil A.J. Bowen and the heroic Justin Welborn), some weirdly excellent comic relief from Scott Poythress and Cheri Christian, and a lead actress who's as surprisingly commanding as she is girl-next-door hot. (Her name is Anessa Ramsey, and she's plenty hot.)

Here's hoping the Feb. 22 date stays in place. You can see The Signal's new trailer at its well-designed website, or here:
