Tom Key, artistic director of Theatrical Outfit and co-creator of Cotton Patch Gospel, takes a different page from the New Testament by directing GODSPELL 1971's long-running folk-rock take on the Gospel of Matthew and a staple of community theater and high school productions for decades. Singing familiar tunes such as "Day by Day" and "All Good Gifts" Wed., APRIL 16, will be a 10-actor ensemble including Wendy Melkonian, Jahi Kearse and Justin Tanner, all of whom just played major roles in Alliance Theatre's Seussical (a musical based on a different kind of sacred text). Musical trivia buffs will note that Godspell co-creator Stephen Schwartz more recently created Wicked and contributed lyrics to the Disney film Enchanted. Through May 11. $30. Wed.-Sat., 7:30 p.m.; Sun., 2:30 p.m. Theatrical Outfit, Balzer Theater, 84 Luckie St. 678-528-1500. www.theatricaloutfit.org.
