Meet Loafy

Meet Loafy, the new mascot for Creative Loafing. You may find yourself asking, “Why does a newspaper need a mascot?” Or “Is that really just a guy in a painted television box?”

Both are valid questions. The truth is that we weren’t looking for a mascot. He found us. When you’re working on a project that changes the very foundation of the look and feel of your product, you need someone to be a spokesman for that change. Or in this case, a spokesbox.

That’s Loafy’s job. He’s not as clever as the Geico Gecko. He’s not as cute (or ugly) as Uga VIII. He’s not annoying as those freecreditreport.com guys or the ridiculous Carfax Car Fox. No, he’s just Loafy. And he’s awesome.

So welcome him, Atlanta. Otherwise he’ll find where you live and steal your possessions. Plasma TVs, microwaves or even your entire collection of “One Tree Hill” DVDs, it doesn’t matter. He’ll take them all. That’s how Loafy rolls.

Don’t forget to friend Atlanta’s newest mascot at facebook. Just search for “Loafy.” He’ll have his very own giveaways, status updates and periodic links to Creative Loafing stories and events.
