STONE MOUNTAIN CARVING OF CONFEDERATE LEADERS

The Southern Poverty Law Center is fighting a decision by Stone Mountain officials to approve a Confederate Memorial Day event that will feature a known white nationalist as keynote speaker. The SPLC and the Stone Mountain Action Coalition are asking the public to voice its opposition to the plan by contacting board members of the Stone Mountain Memorial Association and demand the April 30 event be canceled.

“Rallies like these allowed extremists to network with one another and build the organizational channels that they used to plan dangerous events like the Unite the Right rally,” the SPLC said in a statement. “We don’t want to see Stone Mountain Park used for hateful purposes. There is still time for the SMMA to change their minds.” stonemountainpark.org
